2019-2020: In the summer of 2019, our founders, Olivia Ostrover (left), Mackenzie Barta (middle), and Maddie Earle (right), began making plans for the club we know today as the Undergraduate Women of Harvard Athletics. This decision was in response to the underrepresentation of women in sports at Harvard that they saw every day. They wanted to make a change, and in the fall of 2019, they did just that. After the club became officially established, female athletes from numerous teams rushed to join and the club took off. Focusing on topics such as mental health, lack of fan attendance, body image, sexual harassment, and many others that affect all female athletes every day, our board set up incredible events to kick off our first year.
